The best things in life...

... are worth waiting for.

We have been trying to schedule a time to go out on a double date with Kyle (our Pastor's son) and Kristy for months now. For one reason or another it never worked out until last night. We wanted to make the most of the opportunity so we all met at our house at 3:00 in the afternoon, loaded up our bikes and tennis rackets, and were off to enjoy what at the time none of us knew would become such a fantabulous date!

We were all starving (already) so we stopped and got milkshakes to enjoy on our way to play tennis. It was so refreshing on such an unexpectedly hot day.

None of us are particularly good at tennis so it took awhile to get the hang of things, but it was fun anyway. Kristy fell backwards once and smacked her head, but she got right back up and didn't let it spoil her fun. She's a trooper. It turned out to be excellent practice for what was still to come! Time very well spent. :)

It really was hot though so we decided to go ride our bikes on the Rims to cool off. That ended up being more difficult than we thought, and I for one suffered for it most of the night, but the view was spectacular. We got a bird's eye view of all the lovely fall colors, and witnessed a gorgeous sunset. Very romantic! ;) We even got some pretty good pictures. None with all of us together unfortunately, but that's okay.

Just looking at this picture makes me cringe. It looks like Kyle is way too close to the edge.

I love my Honey! The sun was so bright and he had a headache, but he never complained once.

We all shoulda' carved our initials in the rocks, too. :)
These stairs are carved out of the rock of the Rims. Very steep and scary. That open side is a very large drop off. The whole trail is that way. I felt like hugging the rock the entire time.

By the time the sun set, we had worked up a ravenous appetite. Kyle especially. We went to Famous Dave's and he said that the first bite of his food was so good it actually gave him goosebumps. He couldn't stop expressing his appreciation of the food. It was hilarious.

Funny story....

The restaurant appeared to be packed when we pulled in, but Kristy and I went in to inquire how long the wait would be anyway while Josh and Kyle stayed outside. There were several other parties waiting out there, all anticipating a wait of forty minutes or more. The hostess told us it would be between a fifteen and twenty minute wait. Figuring we'd wait at least that long any place else on a Friday night we had her take our name.

We hadn't been back outside for more than two minutes when our thingy buzzed. Some of the other people out there were none too happy, but they were nice about it. Kyle apologized to them, and followed the rest of us inside.

We got a nice booth at the very back of the restaurant, got our drinks, an appetizer, and finally our entrees when this lady walked up to our table and began to help herself to Kyle's fries. Josh and Kristy and I sat there friendly and smiling waiting for Kyle to give us some indication of knowing this person. He just kinda looked at her, looked around at us, looked at his food, then looked at her again, and said, "How ya doin'?"

"Well, we finally got our table."

"Oh, I'm really sorry you had to wait so long."

She replied, "Aww, sure ya are." in total disgust....

And turned and walked. away.

Leaving Kyle sputtering in her wake, "How obnoxious! How rude. This is what you get for being nice to people; they come in and steal your food! I wish I woulda' had the presence of mind to say, 'Excuse me, do. I. know. you???'"

He was that hungry; begrudging even a few fries for a complete stranger. Oh. How. We. Laughed. And laughed, and laughed some more.

We came back to our house, stuffed to the gills with spicy hot chicken wings and bread pudding as only Famous Dave's can make it, and talked until we could move again a little. After not long enough of a break, Kyle was raring to go downstairs and play Ping Pong.

Until midnight.

The games were so close that it went 0/0, to 1/0, to 1/1, to 2/1, to 2/2 and so on one entire game! Kyle and Josh are equally good as are Kristy and I. Let me tell ya, that makes for some exciting games! None of us were ready for the evening to be over, even after nine hours together.

Now that's saying somethin'. ;)
